Tree of Life

The Celts had very clear ideas about how the natural world fitted together: everything was separate and precious, but they worked because they fitted into the beautiful whole. Sandal wearing hippy that I am, I naturally warm to this concept, so I tried to get the idea across in this picture with three distinct parts of the tree and sky making one circle.

The original is painted on cardboard with a papier-mache surface and is one square metre because I didn’t feel I could justify the cost of a canvas. Fortunately reducing it to fit the blog means most of the mistakes are hidden.

    • Thanks Iain. I discovered that acrylics are great for working through colours until I accidentally found the right one…
